The Brand started in early 1980's when Oliver left Art School and today the company is the industrial vehicle for the expression of his ideas and creativity through the Brand. Over the years the freedom of independence has allowed the Brand to swing in and out of various different fields of design such as the housewares, the clock and watch industry, and now electronics. With a focus on high quality and perhaps less on mass consumer volume, the Brand has a distinctive style and has attracted many famous and prestigious luxury hospitality brands as customers. The Brand has also been blessed by winning several design awards, including on two occasions the prestigious The GOOD DESIGN® Award which is the world’s most prestigious and oldest Design Awards program. Founded in Chicago in 1950 by architects Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray James and Edgar Kaufman.

The Company

The Company, Studio Designs Limited, is 95% focused towards the Hospitality Industry. We are a leader in the design and manufacture of luxury alarm clocks and Bluetooth speaker alarms. We work directly with hotel operators, interior designers, procurement companies and distributors on new build projects and refurbishments allover the world for some of the finest hotels brands. We are the home of the Oliver Hemming brand and Oliver is our CEO.

Our collection is focused; with a emphasis on alarm clocks, wall clocks, watches and the beautiful Award-winning Songbird and Robin Bluetooth speaker alarms. Some of our products are available for worldwide retail distribution and you can buy most of them on this website.

The Team

Oliver Hemming FRSA

CEO, founder, designer and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Born in Kenya in 1959 Oliver Hemming studied design and silversmithing at Art School in England and has won several design awards during his career. Now living in Hong Kong where he has his design studio and manufacturing, he has for 25 years distributed his designs all over the world, working with the best design stores and retailers and Hotels. His individual approach to design and manufacture have given him a reputation for innovation and creative thinking and a skill for bringing affordable and accessible design to the market.

Oliver is now focusing on designing and making his ever rewarding collection of Desire & Obsession alarm clocks at his new factory as well as the beautiful new Award winning SongBird and Robin Bluetooth speaker alarm clock collection.

Oliver shows that by combining skills from both the watch and clock industry into these new designs, he has once again created an outstanding collection in his unique Songbird and Robin audio products.

Jing Jing Liu

Production Director.

Born in 1985, Jing Jing is from Yichang in Hubei province. She was educated in Wuhan at the South-Central University For Nationalities and gained a bachelor’s degree in International Economy and Trade.

Jing Jing is a master at organization, logistics and planning and runs the production planning and buying department at the factory. If you need something doing, then be nice to this lady 🙂

Milos Jakubec

3d Engineer and Visualizer.

Milos is from Slovakia and is a very talented engineer with exceptional visualization skills. His passion for all things related to timekeeping makes him the perfect guy to work in our international team. He has incredible skills in 3d modeling, rendering, rigging, video 3d animation and retouching.

Fei Liu

Production Manager and Engineer

Fei is a graduate from the University of Opportunity and has taken his own brilliant sense of craftsmanship and brought it to bear with his own natural common sense to really take command of the larger part of the production of our clocks. Frankly his skills are amazing and his ability to impart them to the other team members is a credit to him. An invaluable member of this team. Judy Liu

Director Sales for China

Born in 1988, Judy is from Laibin in Guangxi province. She spent 10 years working in front of house Hospitality roles and has now joined us to head up our sales in China.
